Syria, China businessmen hold talks on economic relations

  Syrian and Chinese businessmen discussed yesterday economic and trade relations between both countries and means for their development.
  The two sides referred to the need for further development, boosting relations and increasing the volume of trade exchange while benefitting from investment opportunities in Syria. ‏
  Secretary of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Syrian contingent at the Syrian-Chinese Business Council, Bashar Nouri, asserted the possibility of increasing Chinese investment in Syria. ‏
  He called upon Chinese businessmen to cooperate on holding a joint conference in Syria on the topics of investment opportunities. ‏
  Head of the Chinese businessmens delegation, Tchin Lee, expressed satisfaction over Syrian economic development. ‏
  He urged his Syrian counterparts to benefit from the visit of Chinese businessmen and to sign agreements. ‏
  Syria and China began economic cooperation in 1963. Since then, China has been offering Syria loans and grants to help develop different economic sectors. ‏
  In 2006, the value of trade exchange between the two countries stood at SP 37.9 billion with Chinese exports to Syria at SP 34.6 billion.‏
